Yesterday I went downtown to meet my friend for lunch. She had exciting news and didn’t want to talk over the phone. She wanted me to meet her after she returned from a bankruptcy hearing with her clients. I had to take two buses and a train to get there. My friend rarely gets worked into a state of euphoria as she seemed to be when I saw her running toward me down the sidewalk. I couldn’t wait to hear her exciting news. As she was running down the sidewalk, heeling clicking away, waving wildly, she was so excited to see me that she run right through this big puddle of water! It splashed everywhere, onto her and the people around her. It even looked like it got into her nice Gucci bag that she had dangling from her arm. But she kept right on running and splashing through that puddle. When she got to me, she was grinning from ear to ear. I kept saying, “WHAT? what is it–tell me now! She grabbed my hand, saying, you are NOT going to believe this. We hurried into the restaurant where we had reservations. I will tell you the rest when we come out. She said she was pregnant!!
