Turning to Natural Health Products for a Better You
When was the last time you dealt with a bout of constipation? If your eating habits aren’t what they should be, it might not have been that long ago. And when you did, what methods did you use to get rid of it? Did you find the latest constipation remedies available over the counter at your local drug store? Did you go to the doctor for a prescriptions constipation drug? Or did you take the natural health route and find the right foods, herbs, and natural remedies to put you on the right track? If you chose one of the first two, you are not alone. Millions of Americans each year turn to constipation drugs on a daily basis. But to be part of the crowd is not always what’s best for your body.
Consider what a recent study showed as it pertains to women going through menopause. The study looked at a hundred women at various stages of menopause and asked them to try natural remedies in place of their prescribed hormone replacements. The results, for anyone not in the natural health loop, were nothing short of stunning. A full sixty percent of the women, by the end of the study, vowed they would never return to their hormone patches. The other forty percent, by and large, decided they would use natural health remedies along with their prescription hormones in order to improve their trip through menopause. Only three percent of the women said they would not continue the natural health remedies in any way at the conclusion of the study.
Then there is the seemingly increasing problem when it comes to getting a good night’s sleep in today’s high pressure world. Sleep aids are sold both over the counter and behind the counter, and if you are like most Americans, you have tried at least one of them in order to cure a bout of insomnia. But there are dozens and dozens of natural sleep aids that have probably gone untried by you. And why is that? Well, for one, you were probably unaware of them. Natural health products don’t have the advantage of million dollar ad campaigns like the drug companies. If you want a sleep aid, you’re likely to pull one off the shelf or see your doctor. But with a little internet research, perhaps you would have found a natural sleep aid that did the job without the unpleasant side effects.
Natural health products have been around much longer then their synthetic counter parts, yet it is only after we have walked through the fire together that we arrive back at the place our forefathers and ancestors began. While there can be no doubt that modern medicine has given us some splendid marvels, one wonders if the pendulum has not swung too far in the wrong direction. Supplementation of natural health products along with a daily dose of exercise and rest can improve your body and mind in ways you might not have thought possible.
Ultimately, it is up to the individual whether they will continue to ride the prescription roller coaster or get on the natural health bandwagon. Doing so could mean going against what you’ve been told by doctors and, more powerfully, the advertisements and testimonials you’ve seen so many times on television. On the other hand, what could it hurt to try. You can always go back to your drugs if you find the natural health lifestyle isn’t working for you, but at least you’ll do so with the knowledge. And knowledge and experience is never a bad thing.
